Qualifications:

- Current NYS Registered Nurse License, CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.

- Experience in pediatric and/or community or public health nursing (prior experience in school nursing preferred). 

- Ability to assess the health needs of students and staff; and

- Must possess strong communication and organizational skills and                                                                                       be respectful of the confidentiality of others.   

 

Responsibilities:                               

- Ensure compliance with procedures, protocols, and other instructions provided by the School Physician and/or Coordinator of Health Services;

- Perform hearing, vision, and other regular health screenings;

- Assume responsibility for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management and referral activities for students;

- Establish, monitor, and update health and immunization records;

- Prepare and maintain student clinic records and prepare required reports;

- Administer medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by student physicians;

- Initiate emergency procedures for students and staff, as needed;

- Develop and implement care plans for students with chronic conditions;

- Maintain clinic equipment and assess the need for consumable supplies on an annual basis;

- Work as part of the District team providing health services;

- Perform related work as required and other duties as assigned.
